Universal Pictures Pictures has acquired the action-comedy pitch “The Revenger,” from Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant with Ruben Fleischer attached to direct and Liam Neeson set to star.

Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark will produce for their Universal-based Bluegrass Films banner alongside Fleischer and producing partner David Bernad for The District.

The logline is being kept under wraps.

Neeson most recently starred in “Taken 3” and Warner Bros.’ “Run All Night” and can next be seen in Martin Scorsese’s “Silence” and Focus’ “A Monster Calls.” He is repped by CAA and attorney Mark Stankevich.

Lennon and Garant have written films in the “Night at the Museum” franchise, “Hell Baby,” “Herbie Fully Loaded,” “The Pacifier,” and Comedy Central’s “Reno 911.” They are repped by UTA, Principato-Young and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.

Bluegrass Films most recently produced “Ted 2” and has a handful of films bowing in the next year including “Central Intelligence” starring Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson, and “Free State of Jones” starring Matthew McConaughey.

Fleischer most recently helmed “Gangster Squad.” He is repped by CAA.
