Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for its reboot of “Point Break,” highlighting extreme sports such as surfing massive waves — plus millions of stolen dollars tossed out of an airplane into a poor village.
“We’re all going to die; the question is how,” intones Bodhi, portrayed by Edgar Ramirez in the Patrick Swayze role, as the thrill-seeking leader of a group of criminals.
The trailer shows the new version of FBI agent Johnny Utah, played by Luke Bracey in the Keanu Reeves part, coming to the realization that the robbers are committing the crimes in order to honor the forces of nature. The first trailer for the reboot hit the web in May.
Alcon Entertainment began developing the project in 2011, when it acquired rights to the 1991 film property with plans to set the reboot in the world of extreme sports.
“Point Break” opens on Christmas Day, which will have three other wide releases bowing on the holiday: Will Smith’s “Concussion” from Sony, Will Ferrell-Mark Wahlberg comedy “Daddy’s Home” from Paramount and Fox’s Jennifer Lawrence dramedy “Joy.” Christmas will also see limited releases of The Weinstein Co.’s Quentin Tarantino Western “The Hateful Eight” and Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Revenant” from Fox.
