Tig Notaro documentary “Tig” has been set as the opening night film for Outfest on July 9 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
The movie, directed by Kristina Goolsby and Ashley York, follows Notaro after she turned her cancer diagnosis into a standup set. Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis and Louis C.K. co-star.
The festival will close on July 19 with Francois Ozon’s “The New Girlfriend,” starring Romain Duris and Anais Demoustier.
Other gala screenings have been set for Sebastian Silva’s Berlin Teddy Award winner “Nasty Baby,” starring Silva and Kristen Wiig; Sundance winner “The Summer of Sangaile”; “Eisenstein in Guanajuato,” by Peter Greenaway; and documentaries “Best of Enemies,” by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon, and Malcolm Ingram’s “Out to Win.”
