In a pre-Toronto International Film Festival development, Sam Worthington, Ruth Wilson and Sofia Boutella have come on board to star in science-fiction adventure “The Titan.”

Shooting is set to begin in Europe in January. Producers are Brian Kavanaugh-Jones’ Automatik, Ben Pugh, Rory Aitken’s 42 and Arash Amel.

Voltage Pictures will introduce the project to buyers at Toronto. CAA represents US rights. Leon Clarance and Motion Picture Capital will also produce and fully finance.

Lennart Ruff is directing from a script by Max Hurwitz, based on a story by Amel about a military family that’s relocated to take part in a ground-breaking experiment about genetic evolution in space.

Worthington will next be seen in “Everest,” which opens the Venice Film Festival. He’s als starring in “The Shack” with Octavia Spencer, “Hacksaw Ridge” with Andrew Garfield and the upcoming “Avatar” sequels, which begin filming next year.

Wilson’s TV credits include “The Affair,” for which she won a Golden Globe, Idris Elba’s “Luther,” and the BBC miniseries “Jane Eyre.” Boutella starred in “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”
