Sundance Selects has secured North American rights to “City of Gold,” Laura Gabbert’s look at Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold.

Gold is known for his indefatigable quest for Los Angeles hole-in-the-walls and for his adventurous palate — one that finds him digging into everything from Oaxacan grasshopper soup to pad see ew. He is currently the resident culinary expert at the Los Angeles Times.

The film made its debut in the festival’s U.S. Documentary Competition and was produced by Gabbert and Holly Becker, and executive produced by Braxton Pope and Jamie Wolf.

The deal for the film was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, senior vice president of acquisitions from Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.

Sundance Selects is a sister label to IFC Films and IFC Midnight, and is owned and operated by AMC Networks Inc.
