Film financier Cantinas Entertainment has acquired Mission Pictures to form Cantinas Distribution as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Mission Pictures co-founder Cindy Bond will assume oversight of Cantinas Distribution, which seeks to acquire positive, life-affirming films for North American theatrical release. Bond and her team plan to have a major presence in film markets including the Sundance Film Festival.

Greg Campbell, Cantinas Entertainment co-founder and CEO, said, “This fulfills one of the core components for Cantinas Entertainment to become one of the next-gen content providers of quality entertainment.”

Cantinas’ slate includes the live-action feature “Heaven Sent,” directed by Michael Landon Jr., currently in post-production; a movie based on Francine Rivers’ novel “Redeeming Love”; a co-production deal for “Bridge to Jabez” with Mike Medavoy, Doug McKay, Robert Kaplan and Christopher Trunkey; and a feature based on Brenda Spahn’s book “Miss Brenda and “The Loveladies: A Heartwarming True Story of Grace, God and Gumption.”

Mission Pictures International is a foreign sales, finance, and distribution company that specializes in family and faith-based entertainment for mainstream audiences worldwide.
