Fandango sold more than 37% of the bought in North America for the record $247 million opening weekend of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
The company, a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, said Monday that about one of three U.S. tickets to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” were purchased through Fandango’s online and mobile channels.
Fandango said it set company records for biggest sales weekend in its history: its top ticket-selling day on Friday; its top week for sales, 92% higher than the previous best-selling week; the largest number of mobile tickets sold for any movie; and top sales for any movie in the history of Fandango.
