Spectre” has hauled a record-breaking $9.2 million on its first full day, giving the 24th Bond pic the biggest Tuesday gross of all time in the U.K. and topping “Skyfall’s” first day earnings.

“Spectre” also made $6.4 million on its opening night in the U.K. on Monday, bringing its two-day total to $15.6 million.

Daniel Craig is playing James Bond for the fourth time. Sam Mendes also returns to direct the film, which sends Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister Spectre.

EON Productions, MGM and Sony Pictures will release the movie to the rest of the world on Nov. 6.

“Skyfall” was the top grosser in the Bond franchise, reeling in $1.1 billion worldwide, including $304 million in the U.S.
