Sexual Assault Documentary ‘It Happened Here’ Set for May 12 Release

Cinedigm is releasing sexual assault documentary “It Happened Here” on May 12 on digital platforms, Variety has learned exclusively.

The film is directed by Lisa F. Jackson (“The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo”) and produced by Marjorie Schwartz Nielsen. It explores sexual assault on campuses through the personal testimonials of five survivors who transform their experiences into a springboard for change.

The film debuted on Pivot TV on Jan. 21 and has screened on college campuses as a part of the “It’s on Us” campaign launched last September by President Obama and the White House.

The students describe surviving sexual assault only to be met with apathy, disbelief, blame and retaliation from authorities when they tried to report the crime.

“It Happened Here” includes the personal portraits of five students at three schools along with testimonials from college administrators, educators, mental health experts and legal scholars.

Rian Johnson on 'Knives Out,' 'Star Wars' and Toxic Fandom

Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” is a wickedly funny, fiendishly clever, and surprisingly prescient murder mystery. It succeeds as both a brilliantly constructed puzzle-box of a whodunit, offering up a big reveal that’s extremely satisfying, and as a incisive comment on the class divisions and prejudice that are roiling America. If that sounds medicinal, fear not. [...]
