Ronen Rubinstein Joins Lucy Hale in Indie ‘Dude’

Ronen Rubinstein is set to join the ensemble of the indie dramedy “Dude” starring Lucy Hale, sources tell Variety.

Kathryn Prescott, Alexandra Shipp and rapper/actress Nora “Awkwafina” Lum also recently joined the cast. Olivia Milch is writing and directing the pic.

The film follows four female best friends navigating the final two weeks of high school as they deal with the first real losses in life — leaving their best friends, their first encounter with death and the loss of time. It covers the odd mixture of grief and nostalgia during that period of life. ICM Partners is selling worldwide rights to the film.

Andrew Duncan, Jimmy Miller, Heather Rae, Langley Perer and Jen Isaacson are producing. Production is currently under way.

Rubinstein most recently finished the indie drama “Condemned” and was seen earlier this year in “Orange is the New Black.” He can be seen next in “Smart Ass” opposite Joey King.

He is repped by WME, Radius Entertainment and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler & Feldman.

    Film Review: 'The Quake'

Roar Uthaug’s 2015 “The Wave” revived the pleasures of the 1970s disaster-movie cycle in a form that seemed purer than the never-quite-dead genre’s recent Stateside incarnations — most of which seem to involve Dwayne Johnson in a generic pileup of CGI perils. “The Wave” wasn’t high art, but it was entertainment that delivered some standard [...]
