Lionsgate has acquired the script “Robin Hood: Origins,” penned by “Knights of the Round Table’s” Joby Harold.

Appian Way will produce along with Harold and Tory Tunnell through their Safehouse Pictures banner.

How exactly this origin tale will unfold is still unknown, other than it will follow the thief who stole from the rich in order to give to the poor.

Hollywood has much appreciated the story of Robin Hood over the years, with pics ranging from 1938’s “The Adventures of Robin Hood,” starring Errol Flynn, to 1991’s “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” with Kevin Costner.

Sony recently bought the pitch “Hood” from scribes Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott, and Disney is developing “Nottingham & Hood.”

Harold’s “Knights of the Round Table” is currently filming and stars Charlie Hunnam and Jude Law, with Guy Ritchie directing. Harold is repped by CAA.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.
