Lantica Media and Relativity Studios are co-financing and co-producing the upcoming thriller “Our Father” with Frank E. Flowers directing from his own script.
Shooting will take place in the Dominican Republic through the use of Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios, a Lantica Media company managed by Pinewood Group.
“Our Father” will serve as the template for Lantica and Relativity to work together on co-producing and co-financing films with budgets up to $80 million. Relativity will handle distribution.
The companies will also explore technical, film-related education and athlete/talent representation initiatives in the Dominican Republic.
“Our Father” centers on an FBI Special Agent in his 50s taken out of the field and stuck in a classroom to train recruits after a bout of drug addiction and alcohol abuse. He discovers that a 17-year-old biracial son he never knew about is in trouble and defies the FBI to save him.
Lantica Media, which had been named Indomina, said its rebrand reflects the renewed focus on Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios and on the development, production and financing of film and TV content.
Universal set up a LeBron James project, based on Flowers’ pitch, last year.
Lantica Media has also announced the appointment of Joaquin F. Blaya as a non-executive member of its board. Blaya has been CEO of both Univision and Telemundo.
