It looks like Ridley Scott has a plan for the “Prometheus” movies — and it will require a handful of installments instead of one film.

In an interview with German site FilmFutter.com, Scott talked about how the sequel, which is expected to start filming in February with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender returning, will look and also said the story would require more than one film to explain how the “Alien” universe came to be.

“It won’t be in the next one,” Scott told the site. “It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise.”

Scott went on to break down how he always visualized how “Prometheus” would explain how the xenomorph (the alien life form from the original franchise) came to be and the purpose it served to its creators.

“I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare,” he said. “I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.”

Besides the “Prometheus” films, Fox is also developing another “Alien” sequel with Neill Blomkamp which will focus on the Ellen Ripley story which takes place long after the “Prometheus” storyline is expected to end. “Prometheus” is scheduled to bow sometime in 2017.
