Veteran oil industry executive William Divine has launched production company Divine Discoveries Prods., which is aiming to portray the oil industry in a positive light, Variety has learned exclusively.
The production company, a subsidiary of consultancy Divine Discoveries International, is developing a documentary in which Divine travels to several Third World countries to try to provide them with low-cost energy.
Divine Discoveries Productions is also fully financing the movie and is eyeing a sale of the rights to Netflix. The company is planning to develop original feature films, reality television, scripted television and documentaries.
Divine has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He assists in conducting studies to determine the commercial potential of the upstream opportunities and negotiates concession contract agreements to secure the rights to develop these opportunities.
Divine also forms consortia for bidding on concessions and assisting companies in finding farm-in partners for their prospects worldwide, along with helping companies merge and secure private equity and IPO funds via the capital markets.
Divine has consulted for INA-Naftaplin, Sinopec, Encana, El Paso, Conoco and Santos.
