The latest Nicholas Sparks film adaptation, “The Choice,” brings plenty of romance in the first trailer for the film, which is slated for a 2016 release.
Benjamin Walker (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) opens the clip with a voice-over in a Southern twang: “Now pay attention, ’cause I’m about to tell you the secret to life.”
The trailer reveals that the titular “Choice” is faced by Theresa Palmer’s (“Warm Bodies”) character deciding between two men. Aside from the love triangle, the trailer is filled with parallels to Sparks’ past romantic dramas — eight of which have been made into films, including “The Notebook,” “Dear John” and “A Walk to Remember.” Much like “The Notebook,” “The Choice” will feature passionate kissing, southern accents, boats, beaches, a ferris wheel, a car crash and a man waiting for his woman to “come back” to him.
The trailer ends with more wise words from the narrator.
“Like I was saying, every path you take leads to another choice. Some choices can change everything. Every moment of the rest of your life hangs on it.”
Tom Welling, Alexandra Daddario, Maggie Grace and Tom Wilkinson also star in the Lionsgate release. Ross Katz is directing the screenplay, which was written by Bryan Sipe.
“The Choice” hits theaters Feb. 5, 2016.
