EuropaCorp has set thriller “Shut In,” starring Naomi Watts, for a U.S. release on Feb. 19.
Luc Besson’s studio is co-producing and fully financing the Lava Bear Films title, directed by Farren Blackburn from the Blacklist screenplay by Christina Hodson. Watts stars as a widowed child psychologist who lives in isolation in rural New England and must find a way to rescue a young boy caught in a deadly winter storm.
EuropaCorp has also dated action-thriller “The Lake” for July 15, 2016. It’s written by Besson and Richard Wenk, directed by Steven Quale and stars Sullivan Stapleton in the story of a group of Navy SEALs attempting to uncover an immense treasure hidden in a lake in war-torn Serbia.
The films are part of the year-old RED distribution and marketing joint venture with Relativity. EuropaCorp’s first title under the venture is “The Transporter Legacy,” set for a June 19, 2015, release in the U.S.
