Mike Judge, the creator of “Silicon Valley” and “King of the Hill,” will emcee the 15th annual Texas Film Awards, during which he’ll honor “Silicon Valley” actor Christopher Evan Welch with a posthumous award.
Welch, the stage and screen veteran who attracted Hollywood notice as an eccentric billionaire in the first season of “Silicon Valley,” died of lung cancer in late 2013. Judge will present the posthumous award to Welch’s family during the ceremony.
Held on the eve of SXSW in Austin, Tex., the Austin Film Society’s Texas Film Awards already sports a list of honorees that includes Guillermo del Toro, Tommy Lee Jones, Luke Wilson and Bonnie Curtis. Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood” will receive Variety’s Creative Impact in Cinema Award.
The 2015 Texas Film Awards are set for March 12 at Austin Studios.
