Mel Brooks will present Steve Martin with the American Film Institute’s 43rd Life Achievement Award. The black-tie ceremony on June 4 will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The booking of Brooks continues a tradition at AFI of getting a previous winner to present the prize to the newest honoree. Last year, Jane Fonda was the 42nd recipient and was given the trophy by Michael Douglas (2009 winner).

Proceeds from the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute event directly support the Institute’s national education programs. The ceremony will air on TBS on June 13; sister network TCM will present an encore of the ceremony July 30, during an evening devoted to Martin movies.
