Universal Pictures has titled M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie “Split” and set it for a Jan. 20, 2017, release — a week earlier than previously announced.

The film, produced by low-budget specialist Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions, stars James McAvoy, Anya Taylor Joy, Betty Buckley, Jessica Sula and Haley Lu Richardson in what’s described as a  suspense thriller with elements of the supernatural.

Shyamlan and Blum teamed on “The Visit,” which carried a modest $5 million price tag. It opened Sept. 11 and has grossed a solid $63 million domestically and $25 million internationally for Universal.

“Split” brings back part of the team from “The Visit,” which includes producer Marc Bienstock and executive producers Ashwin Rajan and Steven Schneider.

“Split” is the first title dated for Jan. 20, 2017.
