The only thing better than having Tom Hardy in your film is having two Tom Hardys in your film — or at least that seems to be the strategy that writer-director Brian Helgeland is employing for his new gangster movie “Legend,” which tells the story of notorious London mobsters Reggie and Ronnie Kray.
Hardy plays both Kray brothers in the period drama, and the first trailer showcases the “Mad Max” star’s dual performances, culminating in a brawl between the identical twins.
Reggie Kray is described as “the gangster prince of the East End,” and looks like the brains of the operation, while brother Ronnie is the brawn — otherwise known as “a violent, paranoid schizophrenic” with a taste for other men.
The film also stars Emily Browning, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, David Thewlis and Christopher Eccleston. Universal will release the thriller in the U.S., and Studiocanal will distribute in the U.K., France, Germany and Australia/New Zealand.
