Julie Rapaport Exits Weinstein Co. for Amazon Studios

In a pre-Toronto Film Festival move, fast-growing Amazon Studios has hired veteran executive Julie Rapaport from The Weinstein Company to be a development executive in their feature film department.

Rapaport had worked at TWC on “August: Osage County,” “Big Eyes,” “The Giver” and the upcoming April Prosser comedy “Plus One” during her stint at TWC, where she had become a senior VP.

Rapaport had launched her career at TWC under David Glasser, who announced earlier this month that he was leaving his post as chief operating officer.

It’s the second notable hire in recent weeks for Amazon in the wake of Ted Hope being appointed film chief. Scott Foundas, who has served as Variety‘s chief film critic for the past two years, will be joining Amazon as a film acquisitions and development executive next week.
