Joe Carnahan to Direct ‘Motorcade’ for DreamWorks

Joe Carnahan has closed a deal to direct the action pic “Motorcade” for DreamWorks.

Carnahan will write and direct the movie, with Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald executive producing. Billy Ray wrote the most recent draft.

The story revolves around terrorists attacking the U.S. president’s motorcade as it navigates through Los Angeles.

“Motorcade” has long been in the works at the studio, with Tom Cruise circling the project at one point.

Carnahan most recently directed “Stretch,” starring Patrick Wilson, Ed Helms and Chris Pine, and has also been busy on the TV front, exec producing the NBC dramas “Blacklist” and “State of Affairs.” Other past credits include “The Grey,” “The A-Team” and “Smokin Aces.”

He is repped by CAA.
