Legendary Pictures is moving forward with its long-gestating Jimi Hendrix biopic, with Paul Greengrass on board to direct.

Sources close to the project say the delays stemmed from the fact that the Hendrix estate was not in favor of a biopic, but insiders now say they have come around. Scott Silver (“The Fighter”) will pen the script.

Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Janie Hendrix, John McDermott, Peter Afterman, Jillian Share and Josh Bratman will exec produce.

Greengrass last directed “Captain Phillips” for Sony and is expected to direct the next chapter in “Bourne” series later this year, with Matt Damon slated to return. The director is repped by CAA.

Variety sister site Deadline first reported the news.
