Jeremy Renner Joins Amy Adams in ‘Story of Your Life’

Jeremy Renner will star opposite Amy Adams in the sci-fi project “Story of Your Life,” with Denis Villeneuve directing.

The project, based on Ted Chiang’s story, centers on aliens landing on Earth. The military then recruits Adams’ linguistic expert to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. Renner will portray a physics professor brought on to help communicate with the aliens.

Eric Heisserer has written the script. Producers are Glen Basner’s FilmNation, David Linde’s Lava Bear Films and 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine.

Paramount picked up North American rights at Cannes last year, when Adams and Villeneuve were attached. Sony picked up most foreign markets.

Renner appears in a trio of upcoming tentpoles: “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Mission: Impossible 5” and “Captain America: Civil War.”

Villeneuve’s credits include “Prisoners,” and he’s helming the “Blade Runner” sequel.

Renner is reed by CAA, Untitled Entertainment, and Felker Toczek

The news was first reported by THR.
