TOKYO — After six weekends as No. 1 at the Japanese box office, Disney’s “Big Hero 6” slipped to No. 2 for the Feb. 14-15 weekend, while boosting its cumulative score to $70 million on 6.5 million admissions.

Debuting at No. 5, “Fifty Shades of Grey” took a so-so $684,000 from 61,728 admissions at 324 screens, despite a rare release that was nearly simultaneous with the U.S.

The Japanese translation of the novel, a two-part 800-plus-page doorstopper in paperback, has not had the same explosive success enjoyed by the original around the world. The Kindle version is currently ranked #36,252 on Amazon Japan, the paperback version, #641 for part one, #1,141 for part two.

Bowing at the top spot was “Terrace House — Closing Door,” a picture based on a popular reality show about six men and women living in a shared house. In its opening frame the film earned $2.12 million on 190,000 admissions from 160 screens.
