Jamie Dornan to Lead World War II Thriller ‘Anthropoid’

LONDON — “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Jamie Dornan and “Peaky Blinders” thesp Cillian Murphy will lead the cast of World War II movie “Anthropoid,” which Sean Ellis will direct.

The pic concerns an assassination attempt on Reinhard Heydrich, an SS general who led the Nazi forces in Czechoslovakia and gained the nickname “the Butcher of Prague.” Two soldiers from Czechoslovakia’s army in exile are trained by British forces, and parachuted into their homeland with the assignment, code-named Anthropoid, to kill Heydrich.

Screenplay is by Ellis, who is best known for crime drama “Metro Manila,” and Anthony Frewin, Stanley Kubrick’s former assistant and now a novelist.

Pic is being produced by Leonard Glowinski (“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”) for 22h22, Anita Overland (“Rush”) and Chris Curling (“The Last Station”). Krystof Mucha and David Ondricek are co-producing for Lucky Man Films.

Pic is due to start production in July in Prague.
