Three Untitled Illumination Movies Get Dates Through 2020

Universal has set a trio of July dates for upcoming animated titles from Illumination, which produced the “Despicable Me” movies and “Minions.”

The first film will open on July 13, 2018; the second on July 3, 2019 and the third one July 10, 2020. None have been titled.

“The upcoming entries will be full of the sweet-yet-subversive humor, relatable characters and innovative visuals that have come to be expected from the makers of the beloved ‘Despicable Me’ franchise,” Universal said.

Minions” generated blockbuster numbers this summer with $1.15 billion worldwide.

Universal has set a July 8 release for Illumination’s “The Secret Life of Pets,” co-directed by Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney with a voice cast of Adam Sandler, Lake Bell, Andy Samberg, Louis C.K., Dana Carvey and Jenny Slate.
