IFC Films Lands Rights to Jake Hoffman’s ‘Asthma’

IFC Films has landed distribution rights to Jake Hoffman’s directorial debut, “Asthma.”

Written and directed by Hoffman, the pic stars Benedict Samuel and Krysten Ritter alongside Nick Nolte, Rosanna Arquette, Goran Visnjic, Dov Tiefenbach, Rene Ricard and Iggy Pop.

The film follows Gus, who is suffocating in life both figuratively and literally because of his asthma attacks. Gus only sees hope in Ruby, a confident tattoo artist. The two take an impromptu trip out of the city in a stolen classic convertible, and Ruby warns him not to fall in love with her, but that’s easier said than done.

Hoffman, Tracey Baird and Missy Papageorge are producing. IFC will release the pic on Oct. 23.

Hoffman, the son of Dustin Hoffman, is better known for his acting credits in such films as “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “She’s Funny That Way” and “Enter the Dangerous Mind.” He is repped by WME.
