“Furious 7” director James Wan has hired veteran executive Michael Clear to head Wan’s Atomic Monster production company.
Clear will oversee day-to-day operations at Atomic Monster, where Wan has a first-look deal with New Line. He was a VP for Scott Stuber’s Bluegrass.
Wan said the hire will lead to increased activity at Atomic Monster: “Michael is a savvy decision-maker and a dynamic executive. He and I have a similar taste in films, and I’m looking forward to working with him to jump start our production slate.”
Wan is on board to direct “The Conjuring” sequel for New Line and “Aquaman” for Warner Bros. He produced “Insidious: Chapter 3” and is on board for New Line’s horror project “Lights Out.”
Clear worked on “Safe House,” “A Million Ways to Die in the West” and the upcoming Matthew McConaughey drama “The Free State of Jones.”
