Dear White People” producer Effie Brown has come on board to produce a movie version of Omar Tyree’s “Flyy Girl” book trilogy for Lionsgate’s Codeblack Films.

Brown and her company Duly Noted will oversee development and the recruitment of the creative team on the project alongside Codeblack Films’ Jeff Clanagan and Quincy Newell.

Brown’s credits include “Real Women Have Curves” and  “Rocket Science.” She also recently joined the cast of HBO’s “Project Greenlight” reboot as a producer and mentor.

Nicole Jefferson-Asher will write the script, based on the character of  a successful businesswoman and workaholic who believes that money is always the key to happiness — but is forced to reinvent herself.

The second book in Tyree’s series, “For the Love of Money,” won an NAACP Image Award in 2001.

Codeblack acquired rights to the “Flyy Girl” trilogy in 2013.
