A24 and DirecTV have bought U.S. rights to horror-thriller “February,” starring Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka and Lucy Boynton.

Osgood Perkins, son of “Pyscho” actor Anthony Perkins, directed from his own script. “February” premiered on Sept. 12 at the Toronto Film Festival with Variety‘s Joe Leydon giving a positive review, calling the film “atmospheric and suspenseful.”

Producers are Unbroken Pictures’ Adrienne Biddle and Bryan Bertino along with Rob Paris’ Paris Film Inc., Zed Filmworks’ Rob Menzies and Alphonse Ghossein of Go Insane Films. The story is set at a girls’ prep school, where two students find themselves stranded after their parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break. Roberts stars as a haunted woman.

UTA and CAA represented “February” for the domestic sale. Highland Film Group is handling international sales.

It’s the third acquisition for A24 at Toronto following deals for “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” and “Into the Forest.”
