DreamWorks Pictures has acquired the pitch “Magicus” from “Flatlines” and “The Craft” screenwriter Peter Filardi.
The pic will be a supernatural family thriller in the spirit of an Amblin film about a hard-working single mother and daughter who stumble into a suburban war of witches.
Dreamworks exec Mia Maniscalco is overseeing for the studio.
Filardi’s past credits have held strong over the years, so much so that “Flatliners” and “The Craft” are currently getting the reboot treatment — Sony is developing a “Flatliners” remake with Niels Arden Oplev helming, and Red Wagon is currently developing a new version of “The Craft.”
He is repped by Amy Schiffman from IPG, Cindy Mintz at Kaplan Stahler and attorney is George Tobia at Burns & Levinson.
