Universal has released the first scare-filled “Crimson Peak” trailer, along with an international trailer for director Guillermo del Toro’s gothic horror story starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam.
Universal had unveiled some of the blood-drenched footage last month at CinemaCon, evoking plenty of gasps from startled exhibitors.
The trailers center on the brother-sister relationship between the characters played by Hiddleston and Chastain, who live in a massive old home with plenty of dark secrets in the 19th century. Hiddleston’s bride, played by Wasikowska, discovers that her new spouse is not who he seems to be.
Del Toro constructed a four-story mansion for “Crimson Peak.” Legendary Pictures produced, with Universal set to release “Crimson Peak” at the height of the Halloween season on Oct. 16.
Producers are del Toro, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Callum Greene, with Jillian Share exec producing.
