Several civil rights organizations are planning a protest at this year’s Academy Awards to call attention to the lack of diversity among this year’s list of acting nominees and in the industry at large.

Representatives from the National Action Network, the L.A. Urban Policy Roundtable and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference planned to announce details of the Sunday protest at a press conference on Friday.

Earlier this week, Rep. Tony Cardenas (D-Calif.) called for a meeting with Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs, citing the all-white roster of acting nominees this year as well as a 2012 Los Angeles Times report showing that the Academy membership was 94% white and 77% male.

The Academy had no comment on Cardenas’ letter.
