Chris Evans, Jared Leto Circling ‘Girl on the Train’

Chris Evans and Jared Leto are in early talks to board DreamWorks’ adaptation of “The Girl on the Train.”

The duo joins Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson and Haley Bennett in the adaptation of the Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel.

Sources indicate negotiations are still ongoing, and that schedules and finances still have to be figured out.

The story follows a woman (Blunt) devastated by her recent divorce who spends her commute fantasizing about a seemingly perfect couple who lives in a house that her train passes every day. Along the way, she becomes entangled in a mystery revolving around the married couple.

If the deals go through, Evans would play Ferguson’s husband and Leto would play Bennett’s husband.

Tate Taylor is directing from Cressida Wilson’s script. Marc Platt will produce the film, while Jared LeBoff of Marc Platt Prods. will serve as executive producing.

While Evans reached A-list levels for playing Steve Rogers in Marvel’s “Captain America” and “Avengers” movies, the actor has also starred in darker passion projects like The Weinstein Co.’s “Snowpiercer” and Searchlight’s upcoming drama “Gifted,” which Marc Webb is directing. Evans most recently made his directorial debut with “Before I Go,” in which he starred opposite Alice Eve.

Leto is following his Oscar-winning performance in “Dallas Buyers Club” as the Joker in Warner Bros.’ “Suicide Squad,” which bows next summer.

    'High Ground': Film Review

There’s a hint of John Ford to “High Ground,” a sinewy, sun-baked faceoff between indigenous and invading armies in the Arnhem Land wilderness of Australia, though by now we probably need a better word than “western” for films that situate the tensions and tropes of Hollywood operas in their own distinct geographical context. Handsomely mounted [...]

Christian Petzold’s “Undine” begins with a breakup. Framed tightly on the face of lead actor Paula Beer, we absorb the news as she does. But this is no ordinary separation, and as jilted lovers go, Undine’s far from typical. Her name betrays what sets her apart, although in the vast realm of mythological entities, undines [...]
