Lionsgate is in final negotiations to acquire “By Way of Helena,” a Western starring Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth, Variety has learned.

The movie is directed by Kieran-Darcy Smith, and tells the story of a ranger who investigates a series of mysterious deaths in a small town. The film has been shot already and came to the Cannes Film Festival seeking a U.S. distributor.

Lionsgate has had a busy last few days at Cannes, landing “Genius” (a drama about book editor Max Perkins played by Colin Firth) and “Sea of Trees” (starring Matthew McConaughey as a man who journeys into Japan’s suicide forest).

“By Way of Helena” is produced by Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman. WME is closing the deal in the United States, and Westend Films is handling international territories.
