Matt L. Jones, Eleanore Pienta and Will Rogers will star in the independent comedy “A Bad Idea Gone Wrong,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Production is underway in Fort Worth, TX, with Jason Headley directing from his own script. Jonny Mars (“Hellion”) and Sam Eidson also star in the film.
The story centers on two would-be thieves — played by Jones and Rogers — accidentally triggering the alarm system and having to break out of a house they just broke into. When they discover an unexpected house sitter (portrayed by Pienta), they suddenly have to deal with a hostage situation and double-crosses.
The film is a Red Entertainment production in association with Ten Acre Films. Producers are Jonathan Duffy, Kelly Williams and Red Sanders, with Derek Brown co-producing.
Jones stars in the Allison Janney sitcom “Mom” and played Brandon “Badger” Mayhew on “Breaking Bad.” Rogers played Frederic Pryor in “Bridge of Spies.”
Headley has helmed several short films, including “F*ck That: A Guided Meditation” and “It’s Not About the Nail.” He’s also been commissioned by Heineken, Sony and Chrysler to write, direct and produce original shorts.
Headley is represented by Paradigm, Paul Young at Principato Young and Alex Kohner at Morris Yorn. Jones is represented by Paradigm, managed by Brian Ferrantino and legally represented by Felker Toczek. Pienta and Rogers are represented by Paradigm. Rogers is also managed by Erica Tuchman at Perennial Entertainment.
