Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment Hires Benjamin Kim

Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment has brought Benjamin Kim on board as VP of development for the company, Variety has learned exclusively.

Kim will report to Electric partner Marc Roskin and will help handle all aspects of the development of motion picture and TV properties. He will also be involved in third party acquisitions.

Kim most recently served as a production and development executive with Roberto Orci’s company Sneaky Shark Productions, where he helped develop “Star Trek 3” and “End of Eternity.” Prior to Sneaky Shark, Kim held a creative executive post at Kurtzman/Orci Productions, where he developed “Locke and Key” and “Ender’s Game.”

The hire was announced at the American Film Market.

Electric recently wrapped production on “Geostrom,” Devlin’s feature directorial debut. Devlin’s sales division is selling international rights to Brad Silberling’s thriller “An Ordinary Man,” which stars Ben Kingsley and is currently shooting in Serbia; “Mercy Street,” a PBS drama series which premieres in 2016 and is exec produced by Ridley Scott; and “The Wannabe,” exec produced by Martin Scorsese, Devlin and Traction Media with Patricia Arquette, Vincent Piazza and Michael Imperioli starring.
