Alexandra Daddario has landed one of the female leads opposite Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in Paramount’s “Baywatch” movie.

Seth Gordon is directing the pic. Johnson confirmed that his “San Andreas” co-star would be joining the film in the role of Summer, originally played by Nicole Eggert in the 90s TV show.

Johnson will also produce the film along with his partner Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions banner. Montecito Pictures and Beau Flynn are producing as well. Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Greg Bonnan are also producing.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the latest draft of the script.

Although plot details are currently vague, sources close to the project reveal that the studio is taking a comedic route with the movie. Production is expected to commence in early 2016.

Daddario broke out in the first season of HBO’s “True Detective” and followed that up with “San Andreas,” which grossed $470.5 million worldwide. She most recently filmed the comedy “The Layover” with Kate Upton and William H. Macy.

She is repped by UTA, Untitled Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
