Justin Lin’s Perfect Storm Entertainment is teaming with “Bad Words” writer Andrew Dodge on an untitled cop comedy, sources told Variety.

Dodge is rewriting the script which will be based on a blog by Andrew Ti. While plot details are vague, sources say the idea is a film explores and subverts expectations of the cop film genre by showcasing a sidekick character who is forced to become the hero.

Perfect Storm Entertainment will serve as a producer.

No studio is currently attached. Sources say Perfect Storm will wait until a package is put together before taking it out on the market.

Dodge and PSE are also currently developing “Playing with Fire,” which is also being produced by Jeremy Renner and his banner the Combine.

Perfect Storm is currently producing CBS drama “Scorpion,” which is about to begin its second season of filming. Lin is currently filming “Star Trek 3” with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Idris Elba.

Dodge also penned the script “O’ Lucky Day” for Paramount. Dodge is repped by CAA, Grandview Entertainment and attorney Tara Kole. PSE is repped by CAA.
