Watch: New ‘Allegiant’ Trailer Goes Beyond the Walls of Chicago

The new trailer for the next installment in the Divergent series, “Allegiant,” released Tuesday, reveals a lot — namely, what’s over those giant walls around post-apocalyptic Chicago.

While it takes about 50 seconds to get to new footage — the first half of the trailer basically recaps Shailene Woodley’s character, Tris’, journey — the new clips show the group embarking on a new challenge, a passionate kiss between Woodley and Theo James, new cast member Jeff Daniels in a futuristic setting and more.

“You saved a city,” Jeff Daniels’ character tells Shailene Woodley. “Help me save the world.”

The last two installments of the Divergent series were recently renamed. Initially called “Allegiant: Part 1 and Part 2,” following the pattern of many young adult novels-gone-movie series before, they’ve been renamed “Allegiant” and “Ascendant.” Both are based on the final book in Veronica Roth’s Divergent series, “Allegiant.”

The past two movies in the series, “Divergent” and “Insurgent,” grossed $583 million worldwide combined. The first nabbed a worldwide box office total of $288.7 million after being released in 2014, while the second grossed $295.2 million worldwide last year.

Along with Woodley, James and Daniels, “Allegiant” also stars Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Naomi Watts and Ansel Elgort. It will hit theaters on March 18.
