Michael Jai White will star as the lead in action-thriller “Cops and Robbers,” which is about to go into production in Mexico, Variety has learned exclusively.

The film is written and directed by Scott Windhauser. Producers are Michael Tadross, Jr., and Chris Conover of Tadross Media Group and Danny Roth and Damiano Tucci of Parkside Pictures; exec producers are Carl Colpaert and Frederic Demey.

Cineville International is launching sales at the American Film Market, which opened Wednesday.

White stars as a police negotiator on his first day back on the job following a six-month suspension. Called to a bank robbery/hostage standoff, he discovers that the robbers’ leader is his long-lost brother, played by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who he helped put away years earlier.

Tom Berenger co-stars as the chief of police.

Cineville recently wrapped on “Female Fight Club,” starrring Dolph Lundgren and Amy Johnston, a stunt performer turned actress. Miguel Ferrer directed a cast that includes MMA fighter Amanda “The Lady Killer” Bell; Levy Tran, Sean Faris and Chuck Zito.
