AFM: Freeway Entertainment Expanding, Taps Ivar Combrinck

Freeway Entertainment, a specialist in revenue sharing and international rights management, has named veteran executive Ivar Combrinck as its North American consultant.

Freeway made the announcement on the eve of the American Film Market, which opens Nov. 4. He will be based in Los Angeles and oversee corporate development, assist with clients and be responsible for leading the company’s expansion into other industries in the territory.

He was previously part of the start-up and growth of media financing company SCI, which was involved in the finance and launch of Stuart Ford’s IM Global, had a stake in Sierra/Affinity, and collaborated with William Morris Agency on launching Incentive Filmed Entertainment.

Combrinck has also been involved in more than $7 billion in financing transactions on more than 100 feature films and television series including the second and third “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, “National Treasure 2,” “Enchanted,” “Oblivion,” “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” “Thor,” “Iron Man 2” and “Jurassic World.”

While working for Freeway, he will also continue to act as principal of Silicate Media, a boutique media advisory firm.

The 14-year-old firm specializes in collection account management, revenue reconciliation and international licensing. It has offices in the U.K., France, Spain, Hungary and the Netherlands and has worked on more than 3,500 productions.
