Studiocanal Launches Sales on ‘Un Monde Truqué,’ ‘Mon Roi’ And ‘Chic’

PARIS– Studiocanal will be launching pre-sales on Marion Cotillard-voiced toon project “Un monde truque” and Maiwenn’s “Mon Roi,” her follow-up to “Polisse.”

Produced by Paris-based Je suis bien content, whose credits include “Persepolis,” “Un monde truqué” features graphic design by Jacques Tardi and a voice cast led by Cotillard.

The 2D arthouse toonpic, directed by Franck Ekinci and Christian Desmares, takes place in 1941, in Paris, and follows April, a lonely young woman whose family of scientists was abducted by a mysterious force while on the brink of discovering a powerful serum of invincibility. With the help of her cat, Darwin, and her friend, Julius, April sets off to discover the truth behind her family’s disappearance.

Penned by critically-aclaimed helmer Maïwenn and her regular co-scribe Etienne Comar, “Mon roi” toplines Vincent Cassel and Emmanuelle Bercot. The actress, who is also a director and a screenwriter, stars as a woman healing from a passionate but self-destructive love story.

Produced by Alain Attal’s Les productions du trésor, “Mon roi” marks Maiwenn’s fourth film. Her last pic, “Polisse,” world-premiered in competition at Cannes and won the Jury prize.

At the Rendez-Vous, Studiocanal will also kick off sales on Jérôme Cornuau’s romantic comedy “Chic” which features an all-star cast: Fanny Ardant (“Bright Days Ahead”), Marina Hands (“French Women”), Eric Elmosnino (“La Famille Belier”) and Laurent Stocker (“1001 Grams”).

A concept-driven, mainstream comedy, “Chic” toplines Ardant as Alicia Ricosi, a world-renowned designer working for a prestigious haute couture fashion house who finds an unlikely muse (Elmosnino) to help her regain a creative mojo following a breakup. Alter Films produced.
