Rolling its world premiere at Toronto, Robin Pront’s feature debut “The Ardennes” has been picked up by leading arthouse French distributor Diaphana.
Produced by Bart Van Langendonck whose credits include Michael Roskam’s Oscar-nommed “Bullhead,” “The Ardennes” is repped in international markets by Attraction Distribution.
A modern-day twist on Cain and Abel story, “The Ardennes” turns on two brothers – Dave (Jeroen Perceval) and Kenneth (Kevin Janssens) – who are reunited on Kenneth’s release after four years in prison following a home invasion gone wrong.
“This is a stunning debut from an important new filmmaker and from the reaction this film has already received from audiences at TIFF, it will no doubt make a very lasting impression with our audiences in France,” says Diaphana Distribution’s Karin Beyens.
Deal was made in Toronto during TIFF between Attraction Distribution’s Xiaojuan Zhou and Diaphana’s Karin Beyens.
Pic previously sold to Italy’s Satine Films. Attraction will be closing further sales before the festival wraps.
Van Langendonck’s current slate includes Roskam’s project “The Faithful” with Adele Exarchopoulos and Matthias Schoenaerts, which is produced by Van Langendonck and Pierre-Ange Le Pogam.
