LONDON — Munich-based sales agent Global Screen has added “Nick — Off Duty,” an action thriller starring German star Til Schweiger (“Inglourious Basterds”), to its Cannes slate.

The film, in which Schweiger plays a tough cop in a race against time to save his teenage daughter from the Russian mafia, will be directed by genre expert Christian Alvart (“Antibodies,” “Case 39,” “Pandorum”) and will feature a high-speed, high-stakes chase from Hamburg via Istanbul to Moscow. The stunts in the film will be delivered by Action Concept, multiple winner of the Taurus World Stunt Awards.

It is produced by Syrreal Entertainment and Barefoot Films, in co-production with Warner Bros. and NDR. Principal shooting will start in July, while delivery is set for early 2016.

Julia Weber, head of theatrical sales at Global Screen, said: “Christan Alvart is an expert in the genre, and Til Schweiger and Tom Zickler from Barefoot Films have produced some of Germany’s most successful films of all times (‘Rabbit Without Ears,’ ‘Head Full of Honey’). ‘Nick — Off Duty’ has universal appeal,  and we are looking forward to present the gripping plot and topnotch ingredients to our clients in Cannes.”
