VENICE – The Venice Film Market’s Final Cut in Venice workshop, which provides post-production support and partnership opportunities to films from Africa and the Arab world, has announced its winners.

The following pics will receive different types of support, including free color correction, sound mix, distribution, DCP costs and cash:

“Zaineb Hates the Snow,” by Kaouther Ben Hania (Tunisia)  will get Euros 10,000 for post-prod from Abu Dhabi’s Film Fund Sanad, and other forms of support, including distribution in Italy through RAI Cinema.

“Separation” by Hakar Abdulqadir (Iraq) won the MAD Solutions award providing promotional and distribution services in the Arab world.

“Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim” by Sherif Elbendary (Egypt) will get a total of Euros 30,000 in coin, half from from France’s CNC; Knightworks and the rest from Paris-based Titra TVS.

“House in the Fields” by Tala Hadid (Morocco) will get a total of Euros 30,000 worth of support split evenly between Rome’s Laser Film and Paris’s Mactari Mixing.

Final Cut in Venice  is organised by the VFM in collaboration with both the Amiens International Film Festival and the Fribourg International Film Festival.

Six selected projects in post were presented to producers, buyers, distributors and international fest honchos on the Lido to facilitate their post-production process, promote possible co-production partnerships and access to the distribution market.
