Pacific Northwest Pictures has acquired all Canadian rights to “A Perfect Day,” starring Benicio Del Toro and Tim Robbins, from WestEnd Films at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.
WestEnd has also sold the film to Czech Republic (Cinemart), Hungary (Mozinet) and Eastern Europe for pay TV rights (HBO).
The film, which had its world premiere in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight, is screening Sept. 14 at Toronto.
As previously reported, the film has been sold to the U.S. (IFC), France (TF1), Germany (X Verleih), Benelux (September Films), Australia (Madman), Scandinavia (Smile), Japan (Respect), Italy (Teodora), Turkey (Mars), Hong Kong (Edko), Bulgaria (A Plus), Switzerland (Praesens), Israel (United King), Middle East (ECS), Greece (Spentzos), former Yugoslavia (VTI), Malaysia (Suraya) and South Africa (MNet). Universal is handling distribution in Spain.
In the film, a group of aid workers tries to resolve a crisis in a conflict zone. It also stars Melanie Thierry, Olga Kurylenko and Fedja Stukan.
