Seattle International Film Festival Announces Slate, Fetes Kevin Bacon

The 41st Seattle International Film Festival kicks off May 14 with 450 films from 92 countries.

The festival will fete prolific actor Kevin Bacon with the career achievement in acting award, with screenings of “Footloose” and “Diner” to celebrate his body of work.

Two comedies bookend the festival: “Spy,” starring Melissa McCarthy and directed by Paul Feig, will open the festivities, per a previous announcement, and “The Overnight,” starring Jason Schwartzman, Taylor Schilling, Judith Godrèche and Adam Scott, will screen on closing night.

Other galas, premieres and special presentations include Max Landis’ directorial debut “Me Him Her”; “Before We Go,” starring Chris Evans; “Circle,” starring Julie Benz; the Centerpiece Gala film “End of the Tour,” starring Jesse Eisenberg and Jason Segal.

Breaking down the lineup, the event includes a grand total of 193 features (plus four secret films), 70 documentaries, 19 archival films and 164 shorts. The festival will also tally up 49 world premieres (23 features, 26 shorts), 51 North American premieres (33 features, 18 shorts) and 18 U.S. premieres (seven features, 11 shorts).

For the first time, the festival will present a new program called Culinary Cinema which will include dinner pairings in partnership with local restaurants.
