Films Boutique has clinched early sales on 2015 Locarno Fest closer, “The Violin Teacher,” co-produced by Fox Intl. Prods.
As previously announced, Twentieth Century Fox has also acquired rights to Brazil, the rest of Latin America and Portugal.
Produced by Brazilian shingle Gullane (“The Second Mother”), “Violin Teacher” turns on a talented violinist teaching teens music in Sao Paulo’s biggest favela.
Films Boutique has closed Germany with SquareOne Entertainment, and Japan with Gaga Corp. Spain’s Caramel Films, which had picked up “The Second Mother,” has also picked up “Teacher”; France’s Jour2 Fete is bought the film.
Screening at Locarno’s Piazza Grande, with Xenix Fims handling its Swiss release, “Teacher” “is an arthouse film but also a crowd-pleaser,” said Films Boutique’s Jean-Christophe Simon.
Films Boutique has offers in from the U.S., Italy, Benelux and Greece.
